Home / How it works

How a free charger
pays you back.

No catch, no fine print games. Here's exactly how the program works — from the deposit to the rewards to the clean-energy credits that fund it all.

// no catch

A free EV charger rebate program, funded by Canada's CFR.

EcoCharge is one of Canada's simplest free EV charger rebate programs: no monthly fee, no membership, no tiers, and no equipment to buy. Every kWh you charge generates Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) credits — and that is exactly what funds your free hardware, lifetime warranty, and $0.10 per kWh reward.

STEP 01

Reserve your unit

Apply online and place a $199 fully refundable deposit via Stripe. The deposit reserves a specific charger for your address — it is not a fee and not a purchase price.

STEP 02

White-glove delivery & setup

Our team delivers your charger across Greater Vancouver and sets it up — activation, WiFi, and the app. EcoCharge doesn't perform electrical work; the final 240V connection is made by a licensed electrician we're glad to recommend.

STEP 03

Charge, then earn

Once your charger has delivered 1,500 kWh, your $199 is returned automatically. From that point you earn $0.10 for every kWh — no cap, no expiry.

// the engine

Where the money comes from.

Every kilowatt-hour your charger delivers to an EV is verified and converted into credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). Regulated fuel suppliers are required by law to buy those credits. We handle all the registration, reporting, and sale — and that revenue funds everything.

  • CFR — Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations: every verified kWh earns credits
  • Fuel suppliers must purchase those credits by law
  • That revenue funds your hardware, warranty, and $0.10/kWh
