Everything about the free charger program — for homeowners, strata buildings, fleets, and commercial properties across BC.
General
EcoCharge Energy Network provides a free Level 2 smart EV charger to single-family homeowners across British Columbia. You pay a fully refundable $199 CAD deposit to reserve your unit — this is returned in full once your charger has delivered 1,500 kWh of electricity, typically within 6–18 months. After that, you earn $0.10 per kWh indefinitely. The charger comes with a lifetime hardware warranty: if it ever fails, EcoCharge repairs or replaces it at no cost. You arrange installation with a licensed electrician of your choice. There are no monthly fees, no subscriptions, and no hidden charges. Apply online at ecochargebc.ca to claim yours.
Yes — installing a Level 2 home charger before your EV arrives is one of the best decisions you can make as a new EV owner in BC. It means you plug in on day one, wake up with a full battery every morning, and never depend on public charging stations. EcoCharge Energy Network lets you apply before purchasing your EV. If your plans change, the $199 deposit is fully refundable. A home EV charger also increases your property's resale value, which is especially relevant in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley where EV adoption is among the highest in Canada.
Yes. EcoCharge Energy Network provides free Level 2 EV charger hardware for strata and condo buildings across BC — no deposit required for commercial and strata accounts. We supply a complete strata council approval package including a proposal letter, cost-benefit analysis, AGM presentation, BC Strata Property Act compliance notes, and sample bylaw amendments. Since the hardware costs the strata corporation nothing and includes a lifetime warranty, councils typically approve with minimal friction. Each parking stall gets its own smart charger with per-stall usage tracking.
EcoCharge Energy Network earns revenue through carbon credits generated by your EV charger. Every kilowatt-hour of electricity delivered to an electric vehicle creates carbon credits under Canada's federal Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). Fossil fuel companies are required by law to purchase these credits. EcoCharge registers, manages, and sells the credits — that revenue funds the free hardware, lifetime warranty, free white-glove delivery and setup, and ongoing maintenance. You receive a premium smart charger at zero cost, and after 1,500 kWh you earn $0.10 per kWh on top. There are no hidden fees.
Yes. In British Columbia, a professionally installed Level 2 EV charger is a significant home upgrade that directly increases resale value. Metro Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, and the Fraser Valley have some of the highest EV adoption rates in Canada, meaning a large pool of buyers actively searches for homes with existing EV charging. An OCPP-networked smart charger with a lifetime warranty from EcoCharge Energy Network is a premium amenity — not an afterthought. For strata buildings and commercial properties, EV charger access reduces vacancy rates, increases achievable rents, and helps meet modern ESG and green building certification requirements.
The $199 CAD deposit reserves a specific EV charger unit for your BC home. It is 100% refundable — not a fee, not a purchase price, and not a service charge. Your charger tracks cumulative kWh automatically. Once it reaches 1,500 kWh — typically 6–18 months depending on your driving habits — the full $199 is returned to your original payment method with no action required from you. After the deposit refund, you earn $0.10 per kWh for every kilowatt-hour charged, paid out regularly once your balance reaches $100 with no cap and no expiry. The charger is also covered by a lifetime hardware warranty for the duration of the program.
Yes. EcoCharge Energy Network provides free Level 2 EV charger hardware for commercial properties, fleet operators, car dealerships, schools, municipalities, and strata buildings across British Columbia. No deposit is required for commercial accounts. Overnight depot and parking-lot charging — where several vehicles charge at once — is a particularly strong fit. EcoCharge handles all program registration, network monitoring, lifetime hardware warranty, and annual reporting at no cost. Contact us for a free site assessment and proposal for your property.
Every EcoCharge Energy Network charger comes with a lifetime hardware warranty for the duration of your participation in the program. If your charger malfunctions, fails, or experiences any hardware issue, EcoCharge will repair or replace it at absolutely no cost to you. We monitor every charger remotely 24/7 via OCPP connectivity and can often detect issues before you notice them. If an on-site repair isn't possible, we send a replacement unit. You will never receive a repair or service bill. EcoCharge retains ownership of the hardware, so it is directly in our interest to keep every charger running perfectly at all times.
Yes — fully and automatically. Once your charger has delivered 1,500 kWh of electricity, the $199 is returned to your original payment method. No forms, no phone calls, no action needed from you. There is no catch. EcoCharge Energy Network earns revenue from carbon credits generated by the charger — that's how we fund the free hardware, lifetime warranty, and ongoing support. The deposit simply ensures we allocate a specific unit to your address. If you decide to cancel before reaching 1,500 kWh, you return the hardware and receive your full deposit back within 30 days.
Homeowners
Yes. Single-family homes with a private garage, attached or detached carport, or a private driveway are the ideal candidates for this program. You need a dedicated 240V circuit from your electrical panel to the charger location — a standard job for any licensed electrician in BC. The charger includes a lifetime hardware warranty, WiFi/cellular connectivity, and OCPP smart network integration. Shared driveways or communal parking do not qualify under the residential program — those setups should apply under the commercial/strata program instead.
Yes, and we encourage it. Installing your Level 2 charger before taking delivery of your EV means everything is ready on day one — plug in, charge overnight, wake up with a full battery. The $199 deposit is fully refundable if your vehicle purchase falls through. Having an existing EV charger with a lifetime warranty also increases your home's resale value, which matters in Metro Vancouver and greater BC where EV demand is among the highest in Canada.
EcoCharge Energy Network provides the Level 2 smart charger hardware at zero cost, delivers and sets up your charger across Greater Vancouver with free white-glove service (activation and app included), and includes a lifetime hardware warranty. Installation is your responsibility — you hire a licensed electrician. The typical job takes 2–4 hours: running a dedicated 240V, 40A circuit from your panel to the charger. The charger itself, OCPP network setup, mobile app activation, remote monitoring, firmware updates, and all ongoing maintenance are fully covered by EcoCharge at no cost to you.
Your $199 CAD deposit is collected at application via Stripe and tracked automatically against your charger's cumulative output. Once your charger has delivered 1,500 kWh — roughly 6–18 months depending on how often you charge — the full $199 is returned automatically to your original payment method. From that point, you earn $0.10 for every kWh your charger delivers, with no upper limit and no expiry. Earnings are tracked in the app and paid out regularly once your balance reaches $100. Combined with the lifetime warranty, there is zero ongoing cost to you.
Most BC homes with a 100-amp or larger main electrical panel can support a Level 2 EV charger without any upgrade. A licensed electrician will verify your panel capacity before starting work. Homes with a 60A panel — common in houses built before the 1980s — may require an upgrade at the homeowner's expense. BC Hydro and CleanBC offer rebates that can offset panel upgrade costs. We recommend getting a quick panel assessment from a local electrician before applying if you're unsure about your home's capacity.
All EcoCharge Energy Network chargers use the SAE J1772 connector standard and are compatible with every electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid sold in Canada. This includes Tesla (using the J1772 adapter that comes with the vehicle), Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, GM Chevrolet Equinox EV and Bolt, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, Kia EV6 and EV9, BMW i4 and iX, Audi Q4 and Q8 e-tron, Volkswagen ID.4, Rivian R1T and R1S, Nissan Ariya and Leaf, Porsche Taycan, and all other J1772-compatible EVs. The charger delivers up to 40 km of range per hour of charging.
You have two options. First, transfer the program agreement to the new homeowner — a Level 2 smart charger with a lifetime warranty is a strong selling feature for any BC home, and EV-buying buyers actively look for it. EcoCharge handles all transfer paperwork. Second, notify us and we retrieve the charger at no cost. If you've passed 1,500 kWh, your deposit was already refunded. If not, the deposit is returned in full within 30 days of hardware receipt. We work around your real estate closing timeline.
No. There are no monthly fees, no subscription charges, no SaaS costs, and no hidden charges of any kind. EcoCharge Energy Network earns revenue through carbon credits, which fully covers the cost of hardware, delivery, connectivity, lifetime warranty, and ongoing maintenance. After your $199 deposit is returned at 1,500 kWh, you actually receive earnings of $0.10 per kWh — the program is designed to put money back in your pocket, not take it out. The charger, app, network connectivity, remote monitoring, and all firmware updates are included for the life of the program.
Commercial & Strata
Yes. Car dealerships are an ideal fit for EcoCharge Energy Network's commercial program. Level 2 chargers keep your EV inventory topped up for test drives and delivery, and buyers increasingly expect to see working chargers at any dealership selling EVs. EcoCharge provides the hardware at zero capital cost with a lifetime warranty and no deposit — you simply arrange installation with your electrician. Contact us for a dealership site assessment and proposal.
Fleet operators running delivery vans, service vehicles, utility trucks, or company cars are a strong fit for the program. Overnight depot charging — where multiple vehicles charge at once — is the most efficient way to have the whole fleet ready every morning. EcoCharge Energy Network provides multi-port Level 2 charger hardware at zero capital cost with a lifetime warranty; you arrange installation with your preferred contractor. EcoCharge handles all program registration, OCPP network monitoring, maintenance, and reporting. No deposit is required for any commercial account.
Yes. EcoCharge Energy Network provides the Level 2 smart charger hardware at zero capital cost with a lifetime warranty — and you decide how to run it. Configure charging as a free employee benefit, a metered service that recovers your electricity cost, or a paid amenity. Smart load management lets multiple chargers share your existing electrical capacity, often avoiding costly panel upgrades. Contact us for a workplace charging proposal and a free site assessment.
Contact EcoCharge Energy Network and we provide a complete strata council approval package: a formal proposal letter, a cost-benefit analysis showing zero capital outlay, infrastructure requirements, an AGM slide deck, sample bylaw amendment language, and BC Strata Property Act compliance notes. We can also join an AGM or council meeting by video call. Since the charger hardware is free, includes a lifetime warranty, and costs the strata nothing, councils typically approve with minimal resistance. Each stall gets a smart charger with per-stall usage tracking.
Under the BC Strata Property Act, the approval path depends on your parking configuration. If your stall is designated limited common property (assigned exclusively to your unit), you typically need only your own consent plus council notification. If the stall is common property shared by all owners, a 3/4 majority vote at an AGM or special general meeting is required. EcoCharge Energy Network has guided hundreds of BC strata residents through this process and provides a purpose-built approval package designed to get a yes from your council. The zero-cost hardware with a lifetime warranty makes the value proposition very clear to council members.
Yes — particularly in Metro Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, and other urban BC markets where EV adoption is among the highest in North America. EV charging is now a top-three amenity for both commercial and residential tenants who drive electric. Properties with installed EV infrastructure command higher rents, fill faster, and report lower vacancy than comparable properties without it. EcoCharge Energy Network provides the charger hardware at zero capital cost with a lifetime warranty. You arrange installation and permanently benefit from the upgraded asset value, tenant attraction, and ESG reporting documentation.
Yes. Educational institutions, municipalities, Crown corporations, and government facilities all qualify under EcoCharge Energy Network's commercial program with no deposit required. Large, high-occupancy parking facilities with long dwell times are an excellent fit. All chargers come with a lifetime warranty. EcoCharge provides verified annual usage and GHG-reduction reports suitable for institutional sustainability reporting, LEED documentation, and green building certifications.
